Jeffree Star Liquid Lip + Skin frost Mini Review/Collection

Its really been too long since I've posted on this blog, I could go into how Year 12 is whooping my ass or how the only time I touch my computer is to write an essay (or watch a few sneaky episodes of Brooklyn Nine Nine) but alas, time for a new post!

I know there is a lot of controversy about Jeffree Star, but there is no denying that his products are so so bomb! I first tried his Liquid Lips about a year ago, and instantly loved it! In this post I'll outline the eight different colours I have, and an overall review.

1. Celebrity Skin
The first Jeffree Star product I ever received. I originally purchased this through makeupnet.com.au but unfortunately they don't stock JS anymore. This colour is a little bit cool toned, a little bit nude, and a little bit brown- it's really VERY cool and very hard to find a similar shade! This is one of the lipsticks that does have that 'Root Beer' scent which is fairly strong, I personally like it, but a lot of people dont.

2. Gemini
I purchased this one on the JS website, as I have for the rest of the products. I bought Gemini on a whim, I knew i wanted Doll Parts (since I missed it in the first release) and i decided to make the 15ish dollar shipping worth it. This colour is stunning, I can't even describe it! Its a really warm toned red-brown, kinda dark peach. Its special since I wore it to my year 12 formal (it matched an icy blue dress- idk how but this lipstick literally goes with everything)- I really really really love this lipstick, I could wear it everyday!

3. Doll Parts
I was on the hunt for my perfect pink lipstick- I love pink lipstick, and i was looking for my perfect, kinda bright, kinda neutral, very everyday and I think I've found it. Although, due to my paper white skin, it comes off quite bright I really do like it! (i also did a blog post using it here)

4. Androgyny
Okay, so this is one of the most sought after lip colours I've ever read about and i really dont know how I feel about it. Its a darkish purple, nudey, brown colour but unfortunately it oxidises to quite a dark purple on me! I do love the colour, and it look stunning on most people (like my best friend, who's got the loveliest olive skin), but I'm still not sure. I cant exactly wear it with cool tones or warm tones but it does look really good with khaki shades on the eyes? I'll keep playing with it

5. Masochist
This was my first bright liquid lip from Jeffree, I do really love bright lip colours, but I've always gravitated to the 'everyday' shades in Jeffree's collection. This colour is stunning, on me it's one of those colours where you can't tell if it's red or pink and i love it! I wore this to work one day and got so many compliments (including a Snow White reference woooow) but nonetheless, this colour is beautiful and opaque!

6. Rose Matter
I have a bit of a problem with Jeffree's newer shades. Both RM and Manniquin are very watery in comparison to an already watery formula and not quite as opaque- very strange. I haven't had a chance to really wear this colour, but peachy/ coral colours are my faves, so I'm sure when I finally get around to wearing it properly I'll post it on some form of social media.

7. Manniquin
Oh my god I think this is my favourite traditional nude shade! I could literally wear this everyday, with any makeup look. On me, its a light, kind of peachy but mostly neutral nude colour. On a median skin tone, this might start to look ashy but I really do like it on myself! This again, is one of the more watery formulas but it only need two swipes of colour to be opaque in comparison with the other shades that only need the one.

8. Unicorn Blood
I waited and waited for this shade to come back into stock, purely so I could make this blogpost. This sounds stupid, but my collection looked incomplete without another bright or non-nude shade, and since I've been wanting to try a dark red for a while, and since I love the formula of these so much, it was perfect! I tried it on as soon as I received it and oh my god its perfect, It does need reapply throughout the day but i really don't mind seeing as it is so so so so gorgeous! again, its a deep, brown toned red

Overall: heres a little table of pros on cons for my feelings on the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks:

PROS
CONS
Unique Colours
Variation in formula
Completely matte
Not true to ‘tube’ colour
Amazing price
Have to reapply

Thankyou for reading this, I hope it helped in some way!

THE HIGHLIGHTER TAG

So as soon as I saw this tag pop up in my newsfeed from both SallyJo and BeautyWithEmilyFox I knew this was going to a be a stellar collab, and what I also new was that i definitely had to do a blogpost on it answering those same questions!
There is no doubt that I love highlighters, and its also true that I have way too many for the broke student that I am. so here are my answers:

Best Packaging:
TheBalm 'MaryLouManizer'
I am so drawn to anything that a little kitsch and is so ugly that it's cute, and everyone knows how gorgeously cute this highlighter is. Thankfully, the product is just as nice and as beautiful as the packaging and is

Best Natural Highlight
Hour Glass 'Dim Light' + 'Incandescent Light'
I have tossed and turned about the Ambient Lighting Palette by HourGlass. I have days where I hate it and want to sell it and regret even looking at it. But then somedays I'm in awe with how natural and elegant it looks on the skin. In particular, Dim and Incandescent Light gloss over any skin texture beautifully, and give
such a subtle glow that it fits this category perfectly. (Lets pray that I dont regret it again soon)

Best 'Going Out' Highlight
Jeffree Star 'Ice Cold'
Oh wow, this is the most icy, frosty and pigmented highlighter (or product in general) that has ever touched my cheekbones. Believe me, I have tried to wear this more subtly but I somehow find myself being seen from space with just one swipe of product. It looks insanely bright in photos (even on my super pale skin, yay!) and also makes the most perfect inner corner highlight! Unfortunantly, it does show a bit of skin texture underneath, but who really cares if its so bright that Aliens can see it from space!

Regret Purchasing
ELF 'Moonlight Pearls'
Why do people love these? I 100% regret this, I can get hardly any pigmentation (even when its wet) and the little pigmentation that I do get is chalky and patchy :(  Also the packaging is so so so cheap which sucks because I usually love ELF

Favourite Brand
Sleek (Solstice & Precious Metals)
Oh yes, these pretty little compact quads have been featured on my instagram many a time not only because they're beautiful, but because the product is stunning. Although super affordable for Australian Drugstore prices, these palettes are beautiful and sturdy, and have a huge mirror and upright hinge to accompany them! I almost put the solstice in the 'Going Out' Category but had to reserve it for favourite brand because I'm determined to collect all of the quads, definitely my favourite brand. *Swatches + blogpost here*

Most Used
Makeup Geek 'Shimma Shimma'
Although technically an eyeshadow, I have created a crater sized indent in this shadow. I hadly ever use it as its intended purpose, instead I brush it across my cheekbones and it gives the most beautiful, kind of bright but also kind of subtle highlighter. Its the one I go for when I have no idea what highlighter to use, and its perfect in every situation!

TheBalm 'MaryLouManiser'
OKAY so there had to be one category where I couldn't decide between two, and this is the one. Again, MaryLouManiser is perfect for all occasions, and gives slightly more of an impact than Shimma Shimma. Gahhhhh I love this highlighter so much, and even more a large pan, Ive made a huge dent in it.

Least Used
Australis Contour Kit Highlight
This is too dark, its too glittery and awkwardly sheer, idk its just not my thing, and I dont really like the palette as a whole so... eh, definitely Least Used

Most Expensive
Nars 'Albatross'
I mean technically this was the same price as a the Jeffree Star but for the amount of product, (aka far less) this is so much more expensive. It's a beautiful highlight- and the first one I ever purchased I believe, but I dont know if I would repurchase it- but it holds some nice nostalgia

Least Expensive
Essence 'So Glow'
So this cream to powder product is like $5 AUD? and its pretty damn fantastic- It's a very similar formula to the MAC cream colour bases, but I feel like it stays better anyway. Its not the best highlighter in the world, and it sometimes breaks up a bit after 5+ hours of wear, but its pretty damn lovely for the price- and I definitely still use it!

okay! Thank you for reading this! if you wanna see some of these in action, my instagram is full of some blinding highlights! (Chelseadawidowski) :)))))

My Mini Mac Lipstick Collection

So I'm absolutely no accept ion to loving the famous and incredible MAC lipsticks. It's a cult favourite, even if you're not a makeup junkie, you still probably have one.
They're a good price point, amazing quality and come in timeless packaging.
My mini collection consists of 5 shades, 3 nudish colours, 1 bright and 1 grey.

VELVET TEDDY + PURE ZEN

Everyone in the makeup community  probably remembers there first mac lipstick but luckily for me, I got my first two at the same time. I went into the mac counter in Myer on Bourke St, knowing i was leaving with a MAC lipstick. I knew i wanted to try Pure Zen (Bottom Picture) , and after trying it on in the store i was sold. However, my mum, a lover of darker nudes (what a 90s babe) requested that I try a few more on. The MAC artist came back with Velvet Teddy(Top Picture), I tried it on, and I loved it! Fourtnunantly, the lady who i have inherited my love of makeup from bought me Velvet Teddy and I bought Pure Zen for myself!

not even 2 weeks later, EVERYWHERE in Australia was sold out of Velvet Teddy because of the Kylie Jenner trend- I was super impressed with my timing.

REBEL
Next was Rebel- an extreme jump in colour
compared to the first two purchases. This purple/pink hybrid looks VERY pink on me, its gorgeous and was my first Satin finish (Which I still think is my favourite formula) (although I haven't tried an Amplified Formula as of yet). This story was slightly less boring- for Easter one year, my Nan gave me $50 instead of eggs and asked me to buy something bright for lips (in contrast to my mum, my nan is a hater of nude basic colours) so I settled on Rebel,
and I wear it almost every time I visit her.

BRAVE
Brave is one that I contemplated for a couple of months... do I really need another pink lipstick? But i was on a desperate search to fine The One, the be all and end all for pink lippies. No lie, its not the be all end all, but its my fave 'no-makeup' day pink, and because of the mauve undertone, it makes my greenish eyes happy

HALSEY
Finally, Halsey! A slate grey with a tinge of blue. What a random colour for my otherwise predictable collection. But I love halsey, and her music and its an ode to my late grey hair (which I regret changing to this normal and basic blonde :( ). But overall, this lipstick is bomb- although I'm yet to wear it out in public yet, when the time comes, you best believe there will be a blogpost about it.
Althought its quirky and not completely practical, I dont love it any less than the other 4. (this is also the only one I've purchased online, the shipping was free at the time and I got 2 mini samples- WIN)

I'm not sure when my next MAC lipstick purchase will occur, but I'm thinking a red.. maybe in an amplified finish if there is one!

Thank you for reading!

ROSY EVERYTHING PICTORIAL (EYES, LIPS N CHEEKS)

So, last week i purchased the Nude by Nature Bloom palette. I was instantly intrigued about the cool toned blush tones, as I'm a total advocate for orange toned eyes. Unfortunantly I was kind of disappointed in this product, both the mattes and shimmers were pretty poorly pigmented, which means I didnt get the look I was REALLY after. Never fear though, the look still goes on.
I also used this colour scheme to pull in one my newest faves- The Jeffree Star velour Liquid Lipstick in Doll Parts. As soon as this sold out last december I was so disappointed and almost cried from happiness when I saw that he was bringing it back!! I also went for a slight ombre bc i rediscovered the Too Faced Melted Lip in Peony (after thinking I lost it for 3 months)

BASE:
Because this was for work, I went with a long lasting combination of the Australis Oh 2 Glow Foundation mixed with the IT cosmetics CC cream- which I'm slowly running out of and crying bc of how expensive it is for freaking CC cream.
-Maybelline Fit me concealer in 15 Fair (under the eyes)
-RCMA Transparent powder to set under the eyes and softly on the cheeks for contour prep

CHEEKS:
-Contour with ashy essence eyebrow powder
-blush- benefit Dallas & Dandelion mixed
-Highlight - Sleek Solstice Palette Hemisphere and subsolar mixed

EYES: As mentioned before I used the Nude by Nature Bloom palette. I've numbered the shades in the picture, so I'll refer to the colours by number.
4 mixed with 6in the crease
5 (sprayed with Mac Fix +)  to the entire lid
10 and 12 in the outer corner and slightly into the crease
4 & 6 again under the eye
12 smudged underneath the lower lash line
-Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
-Essence Gel Eye Pencil in Black for the upper and lower lash line.

LIPS: For lips, I used Jeffree Star's Velour Lipstick in Doll Parts, then I patted Too Faced's Melted lipstick in Peony to make a slight ombre in the centre.

Thank you for reading! I've missed doing these little pictorials

Sleek Highlighting Palette(s) Review

HI!
so for my birthday, my lovely brother brought me two Sleek highlight palettes (i did know he was getting them but it was a nice thought)
As soon as he asked me if they were okay to buy for me, (and i agreed), I researched swatches and reviews and they all seemed positive (yay!) so an honest review.....

THESE ARE BEAUTIFUL! they are so pigmented and shiny and not for the shy.

In the Precious Metals Palette (silver palette), there are three creams and one powdered (shimmer highlight) , and in the Solstice Palette (gold) there are 3 powders (two baked and one shimmer)  and one cream highlighter.

PRECIOUS METALS:

(L-R) Platinum, Royal Gold, Renaissance Gold, Antique Bronze(Powder)

(L-R) Ecliptic(cream), Hemispher, Equinox, Subsolar(Shimmer)

As usual, I'll pull in a little review grid to give my final opinion...

POWDER:
PROS
CONS
Pigmented
Could look ashy on some skin tones
Not powdery
Too vibrant for everyday- not for me tho ;)
Long-lasting
Baked highlighters don’t work well wet

CREAM:

PROS
CONS
Vibrant
Can make some foundations separate
Glossy looking
Not as long-lasting
Perfect for layering
Can leave just glitter after long wear

so overall these are incredibly gorgeous and work in conduction with each other beautifully.
As for purchasing in Australia, they're available online on eBay & Target or just instore at Target

Thank you for readingggggg

BENEFIT CHEEKATHON REVIEW + SWATCHES

(I'm sorry I've been so MIA on here, I have a few posts lined up, so I'll try to be as consistent as possible)

So my 18th Birthday was on the 28th of april, which meant that when I saw various beauty bloggers showing a new benefit palette I knew it had to mine. However the fear of missing out on this product was real, so I decided to treat myself a week before my birthday (when it came out in Australia) and bought the palette for myself.

I have never owned a Benefit blush and have tossed up between Coralista and Dandelion for months so I was way way way too excited to finally get my hands on this! My god now I know why people love this blushes so much, they're so creamy and soft and smell so damn good too. (if you're sensitive to fragranced products, you may want to try this out in store beforehand as the fragrance is pretty strong)

The packaging is so cute and pretty kitsch BUT I have one gripe- the first palette I bought had a huge crack through the mirror, Im not sure if this was a suppliers fault or a packaging malfunction but it sucked (dw though Myer exchanged it for a new one and apologised a billion times)

The palette surprisingly contains varying amounts of each blush- which I thought was really strange

Hoola Bronzer- 8.0g - matte warm toned bronzing powder with no shimmer
Dallas Blush- 9.0g - Sheer nude pink blush with sheen but no visible shimmer
Coralista Blush - 8.0g - Sheer peach toned blush with major champagne shimmer (not chunky)
Dandelion Blush - 7.0 - cool toned baby pink blush with sheen but no visible shimmer
Rockatuer - Blush - Shimmery rude rose blush

Overall through minimal tests these blushes are BEAUTIFUL, they last relatively long and give the most healthy glow to the skin (especially coralista <3 ), the bronzer is a tiny bit too warm for me :( but I can probably make it work when I'm slightly more tanned but for now I can use it as the perfect transition colour for my eyeshadow!

also side note: the brush kinda sucks and is pretty scratchy- dammit benefit, you could've put Hervana in there, or introduced a power highlight, that would've been incredible.

anyway! thats my mini review- I'm sure you'll see this on my instagram (chelseadawidowski) hanging out in a flatlay, seeing as it's so beautiful
thank you for reading

Dose Of Colours - Hidden Treasure Palette (swatch and review)

(L-R) coin, crown, ruby, diamond
Oh my god this is the palette of my dreams - it's warm toned, ridiculously sparkly and has the BESt glitter cranberry shade I've ever seen.

As soon as I saw this palette on various Youtuber's snapchat, I knew I needed it, I didn't care how much it would cost to send to Aus, and I didn't care how long it would take.

I got the palette basically as soon as it came on sale, and I didn't expect it to come for about a month- but thanks to UPS not providing me with tracking, it showed up at my door a tiny bit over two weeks previous to ordering it.

My first impression of this palette was that it was beyond gorgeous- however the glitter shades are pretty chunky. This will probably be a major turn off for some, but it's okay with me- it just means you have to apply them with your fingers and really smoosh them on to your eyelid (to put it delicately).
Here's a little list of some pros + cons

PROS
CONS
SO pigmented
Chunky
Glittery
Hard to apply with brush
Long wearing
Mattes are a  bit chalky
Glitters don't crease!
Ruby and crown look when blended out

And there's some swatches (the matte ones are a tiny bit chalky for me)

Overall this palette is bomb! And it's finally settled my craving for a metallic cranberry colour (thank god)

THE LOOK:
I'm going to wait until I have the perfect look with The cranberry shade , but I was living for this gold and Amber/orange scenario

1. KVD: Mürher eye shadow to set primer
2. MUG: Creme Brûlée in the crease
3. MUG: Cocoa Bear on the outer V
4. DOC: Crown on the middle + outer eyelid
5.DOC: Coin on the inner portion of the eye
6. Nars Albatross highlighter to highlight very inner corner
7. Inglot #77 gel eyeliner for a nice small wing
8. Toofaced Better Than Sex Mascara on both top and bottom lashes

LIPS:
The lips are nice and pinky to compliment the Fiery tones on the eyes - I originally went with MAC Pure Zen but it seemed too peachy and too matchy
Lined: Revlon lip liner in """
Fill: NYX soft matte lip cream in ""

Thank you for reading! I'll eventually has a look with the cranberry colour in the palette - keep an eye out on my Insta (Chelseadawidowski) for any info
